Bravado: bra·va·do brəˈväˌdō/ noun

A bold manner or a show of boldness intended to impress or intimidate.

This exhibition explores the masculine identity through iconic symbols and voyueristic nature of finding a connectiveness with professional sports figures. As a nation we adopt the ideals to dominate in everyting we do because as a country we have to be the best at everything we do. We seem to find a kindred spirit with the top athletes we watch and root for as they too dominate their sport and profession.

The embracing of menacing imagery that are printed on clothing or etched in our skin as pirates raising their flags to intiate fear to surrounding company. Kingsley Ifill and Daniel Albrigo have both created separate bodies of work that we have put composed to together in one exhibition to commentate on this cultural phenomon.

Albrigo beautifully paints images from NASCAR in monochrome palettes as he embraces the power behind man and machine and the illuminates the branding that drives the sport. Ifill has created larger than life belt buckles that decorate so boisterously around our waists in his trademark silkscreen process. The villianous characters and abbrassive catch phrases intensify with the absurbity of the size becoming almost abstract with their original purpose.

We are very honored to be hosting both these great talents together and look forward to your visit. For more information of images, please contact the gallery at
