TOM FRUIN’S FRESH PRODUCE
MAY 28TH -JUNE 18TH, 2016
Opening Reception: May 28TH, 6-9 pm
Paul Loya Gallery is proud to present Tom Fruin’s FRESH PRODUCE.
Tom Fruin’s WATERTOWER has become synomymous with the Brooklyn skyline and his Kolonihavehus that took up residence in Brooklyn Bridge park last year became an icon in social media for park goers.
Working from project to project and just finishing his new Greenpoint WATERTOWER, Tom wanted to do something fun, spontaneous and abit avante garde with these new pieces that has been creating in his studo on the side.
A kind of “pop up” exhibition based on a produce stand idea of showcasing work, FRESH PRODUCE, became the title of this latest installment of Fruin’s work. An immersive experience of wall mounted objects created from steel and plexiglass will fill the gallery walls for this 3 week exhibition. Steel sketches and studies to help create his large public works will available for purchase. An opportunity to own a small piece of the creative process that goes into creating these now iconic city projects.
Tom Fruin, originally from Manhatten Beach, CA now lives and works in New York City. At the age of 40, he has already exhibited in over 25 solo shows and over 30 group shows including ones in Los Angeles, New York, Texas, Argentina, Switzerland, Israel, Austria, Denmark, among others. He has been written up in various magazines from Sculpture Magazine, Architectural Digest, the New York Times, Juxtapoz, the Huffington Post and Flash Art.
